What is Paneer Bhurji?
Similar to the scrambled eggs, paneer bhurji a delightful paneer recipe that can be made in just a few minutes and goes well with pao, a loaf of bread, soft rumali roti or simple rotis. Paneer Bhurji Recipe is a perfect medley of paneer, onion, tomatoes, and spices. It can be eaten just like that also as a side dish and has excellent nutritional value. Paneer Bhurji is favourite north Indian side dish made from crumbled paneer. It is speedy and easiest dish to prepare which is healthy to eat. Here we present our easy step by step recipe of Paneer Bhurji for you.
Special Tips for Paneer Bhurji
- Indian Cottage cheese is the best paneer for making paneer bhurji. In case, you are using frozen paneer then soak it in hot water for 10 minutes before making the dish.
- If you wish, you can combine other veggies like carrot, peas, capsicum, etc. in the dish in order to make it healthier.
- You can add scrambled egg and make it egg paneer bhurji too.
Take a large pan or kadhai and heat oil in it. Add cumin sees in the pan and let the cumin seeds crackle. Once the cumin seeds become aromatic, add onions, green chili and ginger-garlic paste. Saute it well till the onions become golden in color.
Once you see golden color of onion, add chopped tomatoes and saute till the time they turn soft and mushy. Add a pinch of salt to cook the tomatoes faster. After that, add red chili powder, turmeric, garam masala powder, and salt to taste. Roast these spices on low flame for a minute.
Now, add the crumbled paneer/cottage cheese in the cooked mixture and gently mix it without mashing out the paneer.
Put the lid on the pan and let it simmer for 3 minutes till the paneer gets cooked well. Don’t overcook paneer, as they will turn hard and chewy.
Lastly, add crushed kasuri methi and coriander leaves. Mix it gently and switch off the gas stove.
Finally, serve paneer bhurji hot with parantha or pulao.
